What we achieve
The Australian Childhood Foundation has at the core of it vision the hope that all Australians wants to be involved in making sure that children have a happy and safe childhood. We achieve what we do for children because of your support and your commitment to protecting children from violence. In this section, you can read about our programs and what we have accomplished.
A snapshot of our achievements over the past ten years...
Directly helped 4000 children recover
We have provided specialist counselling to 4000 children who have suffered significant trauma as a result of abuse and family violence.
Changed the laws to protect children
We have successfully advocated for changed laws that have resulted in better protection of children from abuse and family violence. For example, we have lobbied for the introduction of mandatory reporting of child abuse, the establishment of a national sex offender register, and the introduction of screening of people working with children.
A new research centre
We have established Child Abuse and Prevention Research Australia (CAPRA) at Monash University in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
Helped support 400,000 parents
We have distributed 400 000 parenting resource booklets nationally. These resources are available in 16 different languages as a Talking Book.
Trained 10,000 Professionals to help children
We have provided training to more than 10,000 professionals about child abuse, family violence and trauma nationally.
