Nationally Accredited Training Courses
The Australian Childhood Foundation is committed to providing professional education that is high quality, current and practically related to the work of health, welfare and education professionals across Australia.
This commitment includes our work as a newly accredited Registered Training Organisaton, with the capacity to offer nationally recognized qualifications.
We welcome you to this section of our website which provides an overview of the courses offered and information you might require as a prospective student.
The Foundation currently offers 3 accredited courses:
Certificate IV in Child, Youth and And Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) which has superceded the Certificate IV in Community Services (Protective Care)
This qualification provides the industry standard for those working in residential and out of home care. The course seeks to build the knowledge and skills to professionally support children and young people in out of home care. It is aimed at new staff entering into the out of home care system as well and providing formal recognition to those already working in residential and out of home care but without a qualification.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
This qualification is the industry standard for those facilitating training and assessment- particularly accredited qualifications within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. It is a clearly articulated qualification that builds skills and knowledge to both train and assess in a workplace competency based model.
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment provides a significant professional development opportunity for those interested in any kind of training role in their workplace.
Vocational Graduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma
The Australian Childhood Foundation is particularly pleased to offer a newly accredited course which it has developed to resource the work of those already professionally supporting abused and traumatized children and young people and their families.
The Vocational Graduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma provides a post graduate specialist qualification for those working with children who have experienced abuse, trauma and violence. It seeks to increase skills and knowledge to work effectively with children and young people that builds on the skills developed in each student’s original qualifications and work history.
This qualification also provides recognition of professional development and knowledge of neurobiology and trauma based practice through an accredited course and will build the overall knowledge base of professionals working with children and young people who are traumatized and may be living in a range of settings. Equally, at a broader level, it begins to formalize a starting point for a common language of response framework across the education, welfare and health sectors.
This is the only nationally accredited vocational qualification dealing with trauma available in Australia.
