Childhood Hero Dress Up Day
On Friday 19th June, on Childhood Hero Day, students from primary schools throughout Australia dressed as their childhood hero to fundraise for Childhood Hero Dress Up Day.
Students brought $2.00 on the day with 50 per cent of all funds raised going to the school and 50 per cent coming to the Foundation. All funds will go into providing specialist counselling to abused children to help them recover from the trauma of abuse, neglect and family violence.
Congratulations to Manifold Heights Primary School for raising the most money. Your school has won a fantastic Fujifilm FinePix S100FS digital camera, kindly provided by Fuji Australia.
This is a fantastic initiative that encourages children to acknowledge the heroes in their lives, and reminds adults how important it is to be a hero to children, particularly those who need heroes the most.
Teachers are encouraged to include the theme into the curriculum through Show and Tell, art and writing and expression.
Supporting Childhood Hero Dress Up Day are local heroes, John McCarthy from the Collingwood Football Club, Mika Vukona from the South Dragons Basketball Team and Renae Hallinan from the Vixens Netball Club.
