Art and Creative Writing
Showcase
To celebrate creativity and amplify children’s perspectives, children and young people across Australia are invited to participate in sharing their voice through art and creative writing submissions.
At the Australian Childhood Foundation, our mission is to create a world where every child feels safe and supported to explore and create. We are thrilled to celebrate children and young peoples’ artwork and creative writing everyday.
Started in Children’s Week 2020, this creative showcase has since been welcoming submissions from children and young people to create and share their friendship with the world all year long.
This fun activity engages children to draw, write, make, design, photograph, paint and create about friendship.
The theme of the showcase is:
Children and young people under the age of 18 are invited to take part in the celebration by submitting a piece of visual artwork or writing, related to the theme of friendship.
In showcasing your artwork, we will share the voices to children across Australia.
The Art and Creative Writing Showcase will include a variety of visual artworks and written stories including drawings, paintings, digital art, creative writing, or any other visual art pieces that represent friendship.

We know that healthy friendships help children to feel safe. That’s why the theme for our Art and Creative Writing Showcase comes from: Article 15 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and previous Children’s Week themes.
Children have the right to meet with other children and young people and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights.
At the Australian Childhood Foundation, we are driven to create a world where children feel safe and supported to participate, learn, explore and create. You can help us continue to support children whose voices and childhoods have been affected by violence, abuse and neglect.
Sadly, children who grow in communities that do not listen to or value their voice and opinions become vulnerable to violence and abuse. We believe that children’s agency should be respected and that allowing children choice and ability to voice their opinion leads to healthy growth and development.
By creating this showcase, we are hoping to amplify the voice of children and demonstrate the right for children in our community to be heard.
